Hubei beat Zhejiang to earn the last spot in the women's semi-final team event.  The other semi-finalists are: Guangdong, Hunan and Jiangsu.  Xie Xingfang who helped her team Guandong said of reaching the semi-finals, "I have been taking up systematic training with Guangdong team," the 28-year-old veteran said. "We are working hard to play each match no matter how strong our rival is." Along with Xie the Guandong team has Yang Wei and Zhang Jiewen.
 
In the men's team event Fujian will move on.  Bao Chunlai won his match but his team from Hunan could not pull out the win over Liaoning and lost 3-2. "I was affected by wind in the first set but managed to adjust to it in the second," said Bao.  the People's Liberation Army, who are led by Lin Dan beat Beijing 3-1.  "My opponent is the toughest in my past three matches so I prepared well for the match," said Lin. "And the match is very important, which decides which team will enter the quarter-finals so I did give it all. If we don't play the fifth match, we will stand a good chance of entering the quarters."
